I have the DPR 36 series recorder , that for me is 36 hours of recording which is plenty for me. Some will have a need for more long days and continued recording into other days etc.
What I like is the discreet manner in which you can record, without making people nervous, the small size does not intimidate and for me, it seems to keep people more natural in their speech. Depending on the laws of your state, it is wise to inform up front on business and personal matters that you are recording. A good example is if you are interviewing family members about your family tree, the discussions can be broke up into what I call chapters, the voice quality is remarkable, I even record music say from the TV by placing the recorder near the speaker for ref: later if I want to look that song up.
John Denver and Roy Orbison were playing the other night on Public TV, great music and I recorded it all, I can listen until I get the DVD's to listen in my player.
I recommend that if you do not plan to record for a period of time, to remove the batteries , it will not cause loss of your recording. reinstall when ready to record, it saves on your batteries with the clock functions etc. Drop it in your shirt pocket and you are on your way and no one knows what it is. "What is that a ciggarette lighter, etc.
